Yahoo! Mail is very good, especially their new system that is still in beta. But if you want to try another account:
Gmail - no longer needs an invite, is free, and offers tons of space, and a great system.
Hotmail - Microsoft's site, not very good but still popular.
Hushmail - very privacy-focused email, if you're worried about that sort of thing...
Lycos mail... yet another...
Easy.com - free email from the Easy group of companies. Very orange.
Mail.com - pretty neat email address I guess.
